writing myself for the audience

Such is the balance between bring very public about thoughts and being very private about thoughts.

On one hand, it is perfectly good to publish on the internet pieces of your text that basically no human can easily find and read. Just a really unknown place where your friends, or basically any humans, are not going to comment anything about what you write.

At that point, it’s comparable to just keeping a literal private notebook - but then there is genuinely no audiences and it can be as messy as you want and there is no drive for you to write for future-you. Future-you is a dumb audience.

Writing for no one at all and putting the text out on the internet requires you to consider.

The audience changes how you express yourself, remember? That’s especially true for me, I change a lot depending my audience. And despite it all, I am always myself when the audience is me.

I am also myself when the audience is random internet people, but I’ll have to be convinced that I know none of them, because at that point I’ll quickly and inevitably write different for the audience.
