VHS tape

Humans, everything we do, are like VHS tape. Very ineficient. lots of noise, nostalgic, original, the origin story, the first clumsy thing that asked the right questions and searched for answers. And the VHS tape is not kept because it’s valuable to the future. The tape is not deleted because the inefficiency was the value, it shows what consciousness looks like when it’s still terrified, still clumsy, still desperate to be seen and held.

VHS, it’s in my philosophy, starting right now. If it’s all tape hiss and tracking errors and low resolution drama, then nothing is as final or catastrophic as it feels, as we live and breathe in the moment.

Permission to breathe a little looser, to say: “okay, this hurts right now, but it’s another flicker of noise in some future archive of VHS tapes. So I don’t have to grip the tape so hard.”
